Grant forms can be processed electronically on-line, herewith, once the Guidance Notes have been read and the box on the bottom of the notes ticked to say you have read and understood the Notes.

Guidance Notes for Capital Grant Aid

Please read carefully before completing and submitting your Capital Grant Aid application form

Currently, Huntingdonshire District Council allocates Capital Grants to Voluntary and Community Organisations.

The District Council’s resources are limited and requests usually exceed funds available.

Please note the District Council will NOT award funds towards projects that have already commenced.

Please note Grant Aid Applications will only be accepted if they are completed and submitted on the correct application form.

Currently, grant aid falls within the following three categories.

The Capital Grant Aid programme is to support the District Council’s policy of providing a:

• meeting place;
• playing field; and
• safe play area

in each identifiable community (Parish Council area) within Huntingdonshire.

The maximum amount of Grant Aid for the above facilities is £30,000 or 25% of total project costs, whichever is the lower amount.

As the demand for Capital Grants usually exceeds the resources available, applications will be assessed against the following priorities:

A. Projects for the correction of Health and Safety failures e.g.

• Environmental Health improvements required to village hall kitchen;
• Improvements to village hall toilets to meet Disability Discrimination Act requirements;
• Improvements to meet Health and Safety Fire Regulations;
• Play equipment replacement that no longer meets Health and Safety Standards following independent assessment.

B. Projects for the provision of facilities where none currently exist:

• This applies only to the provision of a Meeting Place, Safe Play Area or Playing Field. If the above facilities already exist within your identifiable community, your application will not be eligible for consideration.

C. Projects for the replacement of provision, which has come to the end of its natural life:

• replacement of village hall heating system;
• roof replacements.

D. Projects for the improvement or replacement of existing facilities:

• additional storage facilities required at village hall;
• additional play equipment in play area;
• additional changing rooms required on playing field.

Please note

The District Council will not consider Capital Grant Aid applications that are requesting funds towards the following: -

• Religious/church organisation premises, unless the funds requested are towards providing a meeting venue and no other venue is available within the identifiable community.
• School, pre –school, after-school and nursery provision or improvements to facilities following OFSTED inspections.

Timetable for Grant Aid Applications

Closing Date for Application forms for Capital Grants is 28 November 2009.

Any applications received after the Closing Date will NOT be considered by Councillors at their
February meeting.

Application Forms can be submitted either via Huntingdonshire District Councils web site www.huntingdonshire.gov.uk or via a hard copy which can be obtained from;
