Appointment of Vehicle Examination Centre Huntingdonshire District Council is responsible for the licensing of hackney carriages (taxis) and private hire vehicles based within the District. Such vehicles are restricted to a maximum of eight passengers and there are currently 469 licensed by the Council. Prior to being licensed, vehicles are required to undergo an examination to ensure that they are mechanically sound and of an acceptable standard both in appearance and cleanliness. The mechanical test is to MOT standards irrespective of the age of the vehicle. Network Infrastructure Enhancements The Council is currently looking to procure a number of enhancements to its data network. Insurance Brokerage Service The Council is seeking to appoint an insurance broker to provide advice on insurance and risk related issues and assist with the placing of its insurance. We are looking for a pro active service provider, who will bring new ideas to the Council and share best practice. The broker will be expected to actively work alongside the Insurance and Risk Officer to help meet the challenge of constantly improving the service as well as arranging cost efficient and effective insurance arrangements.
